These are mandala in the Western sense of the word, representing wholeness of the individual rather than some celestial entity. Though some of the original source images began as drawings I created, most were taken from my action paintings. I believe that my action paintings are an extension of my prayer language and help me to express what I cannot say with words. And frankly, some of those expressions should not be given voice because of their negative nature.

However these mandala represent the opposite of the malady depicted in the original painting; a path back to wholeness. Where the original action paintings represent what must be expressed, these mandala represent what should be meditated upon.
